GUILLERMO PEÑALVER

Born in Tarragona, 1982

Presented by GALERÍA GEMA LLAMAZARES

The basis of the creations of Guillermo Peñalver are latent memories stored in the form of images, which go on to be reconstructed by means of drawings and collages of cut-out pieces of paper in which nature is confronted with architecture and the body. The result is a series of oneiric constructions that put forward the everlasting struggle between nature and culture, between what is organic and what is mechanical, rational and irrational, wild and domesticated, and include on occasion classical references or his self-portrait. In 2009 he graduated in Fine Arts from the Centro de Estudios Superiores Felipe II de Aranjuez-Universidad Complutense de Madrid and began to stage his first exhibitions. After his latest offering in 2016 with the title “Blanco sobre fondo blanco” (White on a white background), the artist from Tarragona presents in Drawing Room the project “Revestimiento. Imaginarios paganos” (Lining. Pagan Imagination). He currently combines the teaching of drawing and painting with his artistic work.
