The work of Manuel Caeiro relates painting to architecture and design. The Portuguese artist conceives drawing as a means for reflecting on architecture and its formal principles, suggesting three-dimensional modular structures with which he puts forward situations of tension and balance in space. The repetition of superimposed geometric shapes, the roots of which lie deep in constructivism, allows him to explore the limits between imagination and abstraction, playing with the idea of “trompe l’oeil”. A graduate from the Faculty of Fine Arts of Lisbon University, he began to exhibit individually in the late 1990s. Shortly afterwards his career took off internationally, which has enabled him to show his works in different museums and art centres in both Europe and America.
