PAULA SANZ CABALLERO

Ontinyent, Valencia, Spain, 1969

Presented by GALERÍA PEPITA LUMIER

Graduated in Fine Arts from the Universidad de Valencia UPV and with an MA in Graphic Design from Universidad San Pablo CEU. Although she began her career as a painter, participating in exhibitions with different galleries, in the late 90’s she began to experiment with textiles and embroidery, which eventually replaced painting as the chosen medium for her visual narratives.
Always faithful to her figurative and detailed style, Paula Sanz Caballero’s images are almost always high society figures in an elegant and sophisticated environment, but full of irony, black humor and disturbing details. She takes up again the craft movement of William Morris and his pleasure in the work as far as her works on embroidery are concerned. She combines the schematism of her drawing and her stroke with the detail of the result.
