TEO SORIANO

Born in Mérida, Badajoz, 1963

Presented by GALERÍA MAGDA BELLOTTI

Drawings, paintings, assemblies, and installations make up the creative universe of Teo Soriano, an artist from Extremadura who currently lives and works in A Coruña. He trained at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Salamanca and Pontevedra and held his first individual exhibition in 1985, after which he staged more and more to obtain the Constitution Painting Prize of Mérida in 1989 and the Navacerrada en Estampa Prize 2015, in addition to taking part in numerous projects and fairs such as ARCO, Art Madrid, Art Chicago, and The Armory Show in New York. Reflective and demanding as far as his work is concerned, Teo Soriano stresses in his drawings the physical presence of abstract painting, its impulse of matter, and its will to expand it, affecting the importance of the gesture, the texture, the colour chords, the shapes, and the graphic arts that engage in dialogue on the surface to generate different fields of force, thicknesses, tensions, and areas of intensity.
