EDITH KOLLATH

Born in Eutin, Germany, 1977

Presented by COLLECTIVA GALLERY

After her studies at the Central Saint Martins College of London and the Artistotelous University of Thessaloniki, she completed her training at the University of Applied Sciences and the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg. She is currently studying a doctorate at the Bauhaus Universität of Weimar. Edith Kollath divides her time between Frankfurt and Berlin and was a co-founder of Style-Unique in 2003; she has been a member of the NYC Resistor group of artists, hackers, musicians, and thinkers since 2007. Interested in the infra-thin concept of Duchamp, the artist tends to bring to life and give expression to inanimate matter, experimenting with its qualities and properties, its stages of metamorphosis, and its behaviour on occupying a certain space. Her ink drawings on paper and her multidisciplinary proposals reveal her inclination for the poetics of the immaterial and for dialogue between tradition and new technologies.
