ARTE PERIFÉRICA

In this series, Isabel Sabino continues the enquiry into the female characters of the paintings and drawings in her solo exhibition “Ela” (SNBA, Lisbon, 2019).
But if then each large-format work implied an identity and a name that articulated images of films, disturbing narratives and the natural landscape, here, in “Ana’s Albums”, the works refer to a single woman and her stay in a place where the world only comes through the blue light of the screens. Objects, albums made and unmade with printed photographs and digital images constitute her traces, as well as dozens of drawings and paintings on paper in small format, which record cinematic visions, readings, fragments of the real, memories, threats, her own imagination and her utopian desire.
