JORGE DOS REIS
Portugal, 1971
Jorge de Reis trained as a typographer-composer apprentice with a first typography officer of the Imprensa Nacional, in an old typographic workshop in Cais do Sodré, Lisbon; after this decisive experience, his work has explored the use of text as a visual, pictorial and performative means of expression, constantly relating the printed word to its sonorous and phonetic counterpoint, in an activist and formalist approach to linguistic experimentation. His work is wide-ranging and diverse, with a double activity as artist and designer.
