Paco Guillén lives and works in Las Palmas. He is a Fine Arts graduate from the Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha and holds a master’s degree in Multimedia Production from the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia. Since the late 1990s he has been exhibiting regularly and in 2013 he was awarded the Prize of the Region of Madrid. He considers drawing to be a field of experimentation in which to reflect his most immediate daily environment, posing questions about the nature of the human being and his social role, his fears, his phobias, his uncertainties, and in general the most absurd aspects of our culture. Using the most varied mediums such as paper, direct intervention on walls, and video animation, his concise and synthetic drawings tend to include texts in a stylish hand with words or phrase incorporating an ironic and critical dimension, questioning technical virtuosity as an essential requirement for producing art.
