ARTE PERIFÉRICA

Painting as a form of thinking

This set of works that I present is the result of the records I have developed about the processes that are triggered when thinking of Painting, drawing, and, consequently, in what becomes visible and invisible in the artwork.

The drawing works here almost as a cinematographic “frame”, a preview of what could happen on another physical plane, materialized in a set of colors and shapes. They are work-testimony of the issues that arise during the process of “doing”; what leads to creation, what makes a certain work continue or finish.

Is the artist also the continuation of his work? Is he his work beyond what he does? And the painter, is he always autobiographical whenever he decides to paint? Does the honesty of this process always have to be clearly perceptible?

This continuous questioning about the artist’s social, aesthetic, intellectual position in the world has been the central core of my concerns as an artist, and these works somehow demonstrate a kind of restlessness that translates into the compulsive and methodical doing of these works that I present.
