Our official hotel is a destination rich in legends and history. The Emperador is a true architectural landmark with excellent views of the city, designed and built in 1947 by Julián and Joaquín Otamendi. The hotel was one of the best five-star hotels of the time with a rooftop swimming pool and solarium; it has since inherited the title of “Madrid’s largest swimming pool”. The Emperador has been the setting for some of the most important social events and film shoots held in Madrid and has hosted celebrities such as Sofia Loren, Ernest Hemingway and Ava Gardner.
The Hotel Emperador today offers all the services of a large modern hotel and houses in the lobby an art gallery space that will host during Art Week 2022 an exhibition of the artist JAPC, curated by Serena Saltutti.
The drawings and paintings of Jesús Alberto Pérez Castaños (JAPC) present an excessive figurative imagery, with an intense decorative effect, through which a sense of existential fullness is perceived. A consequence of this is the cumulative effect of lines and colours, in an effort to overcome emptiness, silence, the uncreated, the unnamed and the formless.
